The Low Down

Five months ago, I moved to California. I packed everything I could in the trunk and backseat of Kekoa, my 2006 Mazda 6 and drove 3.5 days, 2550+ miles on 40 with no job. I moved to a city that had the highest unemployment rate in the nation to go to school. Now, I'm settled in a beautiful town, going to school full time, working full time (praise Him!) while still trying to see what this new move has to offer.

This blog is the day to day journey to accomplish everything on my bucket list and vision board. It's a way to remind me of all the things I want to do this year. Hopefully, I'll commit to each item. :)

First on the list: my weight.

I've always been the "big girl." In college I was content with my weight. Freshmen year I started out at a 14-16, but then the Freshmen 15 hit me. And instead of overcoming it, I was abused by the F15 for the next three years, adding on an extra 15-20 pounds each year so that by graduation I floated between a 22-24. One winter, I was able to lose 30 lbs but then gained it right back after I went to Hawaii. So I'm steady at a size 22. My goal for the summer is to lose 30 lbs. I would love to get to 50 but I think 30 may be more realistic for the time being.

Goal #2: Run in a 5K

I've been looking at www.runningintheusa.com for a couple of weeks and there are a few 5Ks in March, specifically March 24th that I'm interested in. I will register for my first 5K in February and go from there.

Goal #3: Reading Challenge

You can find more about it in the Reading Challenge Tab. I may end up counting the books I read for class, and if that's the case, I'll up the number.

Goal #4: Meet New People

I'm in introvert!! I know... surprising, isn't it? It takes effort for me to put myself out there. I don't thrive off of being around people. I do just fine in my own space. But this space is a bit lonely and I'd like to fill it up with people outside of work, and possibly, school. I became an online member to Meetup.com. I haven't attended any of the meets, but I might. Some actually seem fun!

Goal #7: Dean's List (if there's such a thing in MA programs)

All A's. I've never done it. Not even in high school. I always made a few Bs, mainly because I was lazy and didn't want to put in the work. Now I'm putting in work and more. So all As. I kind of expect it.

Goal #6: Explore

I'm in Southern California! 45 minutes from LA. 45 minutes from the beach. 30-60 minutes from the mountains. 2 hours from San Diego! Wineries, festivals, and gatherings galore! I don't know how long I'll be in this area, but while I'm here, I'm going to make the most of it.
